I Thumbs Up to Clean Dallas, Inc., a two-year-old organization responsible for cleaning up litter and solid waste in Dallas. When the group was organized, it had just a handful of volunteers; now, it boasts a 30-member board and scores of volunteers. There is an active chapter in Lake-wood/East Dallas, and work has begun to organize a South Dallas chapter. According to Donna Page, acting director of Clean Dallas, the organization is offering $9 of service to the community for every $1 invested. At this point, she has no exact figures on the program’s progress, but a study is planned for the next few months. Clean Dallas is an arm of The Clean Community System, developed by Keep America Beautiful.
