THUMB AWARD CANADIANS SCORE AGAIN

|

Thumbs Down to the Canadians who are tearing down our Texas institutions. In May we gave Cadillac Fair view a Thumbs Up for their cooperation in altering the design of their 50-story office tower in downtown Dallas so the sun could shine on Thanks-Giving Square. But now another Canadian fi.m, Bramalea, wants to tear down Frank X. Tolbert’s Texas Food and Museum of the Chili Culture on Main Street. That’s a step too far. Tolbert insists his is the only internationally famous restaurant in Dallas. We wonder what reaction Canadians would have to American firms tearing down historic Canadian buildings. Probably “Yankee Go Home.” We wish the Canadians would take some initiative and show us how to save some of our institutions. As for tearing them down, American developers are perfectly capable of leading the way.
