THUMB AWARD MAKE UP YOUR MIND, ROY

By D Magazine |

Thumbs Down to County Commissioner Roy Orr for misleading the commissioner’s court, the U.S. Department of Labor, and his own constituents by going through the motions of accepting a labor department job and then changing his mind four days before being sworn in. “It’s a great inconvenience and embarrassment,” says Judge Garry Weber about Orr’s change of plans, which caused Weber to waste two days interviewing 15 potential replacements and which made the chosen fill-in, State Rep. Chris Semos, look fairly foolish for saying he’d step into an opening that never materialized. “It’s okay to change your mind as long as you’re not dealing with the public’s trust,” says Weber. We agree.
