PETTY POLITICS: WHO’LL REPLACE SCHRADER?

City fathers have got a big problem on their hands, now that Chamber of Commerce president Dan Petty has resigned to become chief operating officer for the Henry S. Miller company. Petty, a former assistant city manager, was considered the shoo-in heir to George Schrader, if, as has been rumored, the city manager departs in the next couple of years. Since the city staff has lost a lot of talent in recent years – half a dozen “whiz kids” have departed for greener pastures – the City Council will probably have to go on a headhunting expedition to find Schrader’s successor.
