House Majority Leader Jim Wright of Fort Worth, who was in Corpus Christi recently to address members of the state’s Democratic Executive Committee, was confronted with a tough question from Channel 8’s Carole Kneeland. Did Wright approve, she asked, of the party’s decision to have nothing stronger than a non-binding presidential preference primary in Texas? Didn’t he think voters would be a little frustrated if they cast their ballots for one candidate and the state’s delegates to the national convention voted for another? “You’re much too pretty to argue with,” he told Kneeland.
