Ever since the inception of this publication, we’ve quite frankly had some problems with our name. Originally it was D, The Magazine of Dallas, which didn’t exactly roll off the tongue. The name logically came to be shortened to D Magazine, which seems easy enough, but one out of every two people still insist on referring to “Big D Magazine.” You would think that at least the people within the publishing industry would sympathize. But a few weeks ago, Newsweek sent us a subscription offer addressed to “Mr. D. T. Dallas,” informing that “You are entitled to subscribe at half the prevailing cover price for life, Mr. Dallas.”
