AND FURTHERMORE …

|

. . . Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mayhew, parents of Mandy Dealey, are tiring of their ranch, one of the area’s most spectacular spreads, near Lake Ray Hubbard. The price mentioned is “about $7,000 an acre.” The ranch covers 900 acres.

. . . Don’t believe newspaper reports that local Democratic chief Ron Kessler isn’t interested in running a-gainst County Judge John Whittington. He is.

. . . Look for Olive Shapiro to be bounced as chairman of the City Plan Commission, probably by the first week in August. Mayor Folsom wants the post filled by someone more attuned to his way of thinking. Apparently a personality problem has cut off potential support for Mrs. Shapiro from other council members.

. . . Interesting to watch Channel 4’s extensive coverage following the Teamster assault on two of its staffers three weeks ago. You didn’t see that kind of coverage when Channel 4 co-anchorman Jay Ruffin was charged with assault for allegedly pistol whipping a guy on April 27.

. . . Jimmy Connors, tennis’ biggest draw, did so well at the WCT finals here (he was guaranteed from $500,000 to $1,000,000 just for promising to play) that he didn’t even accept the free use of a Cadillac that comes with winning the tourney. Turned the keys over to a lady friend who had done him a favor.
