CB’ers beware. Leave your radio at home if you are planning a trip to Mexico by car. The Mexican government has recently made it illegal for tourists to cross the border with citizens’ band radios installed in their cars. All tourists unaware of that rule will be forced to return to the American side to dismantle the radios before being allowed in the country. No one, including Mexican consulate officials here in Dallas, is quite sure why but possession of such radios is now restricted to Mexican citizens or legal residents of Mexico. If your destination is Canada, you can take along your CB – but not without a permit. Allow about 60 days for the Canadian government to process your request.
