Holiday tips are a customary way to show your gratitude. Don’t have deep pockets? Etiquette expert and founder of Bell’INVITO Heather Wiese Alexander says a written thank you goes a long way. “A few sincere words are a lovely accompaniment to your cash give,” she says. “Don’t fret about what to say. Just aim to make them feel appreciated.” Her recommendations for common service providers in your life.
- $20 – the limit mail carriers are able to accept, by law
- 1 service (pre-tip) – customary tip for hairdressers, trainers, etc.
- 2x your typical tip – for your favorite waiter
As for holiday parties, you need four weeks lead time to send holiday party invites for large events. However, two will do for intimate gatherings, Wiese Alexander notes. “Grab final guest responses one to two weeks in advance following the same idea,” she says.
