We asked Dallas tastemakers for their seasonal staples—those items that, for them, the holidays wouldn’t be complete without. Leatherology founder Rae Liu shares her favorites.
Favorite place to buy gifts: The Toy Maven, Madre, and of course, Leatherology!
Favorite hostess gift: Fresh cut flowers from my garden.
Go-to source for holiday tabletop and serving pieces: Javier Burkle
Go-to holiday cocktail or spirit: Pomegranate margaritas. Things can get heavy during the holidays, and I find that a festive margarita often tastes really refreshing!
Go-to bottle of wine for the holidays: Far Niente Cabernet. They are a Napa-based winery with some Dallas connections. You can find their wines at Total Wine. As an activity, I think it is fun to grab a few different vintages to share with friends and compare the flavors.
Dish your holiday spread would be incomplete without: Cheese from Scardello—they have an amazing selection and the cheese mongers are incredibly knowledgeable.
Favorite holiday flick: Love Actually
Favorite Holiday Scent: Abd El Kader, from Cire Trudon
Favorite holiday tradition: Opening gifts on Christmas morning.
Favorite holiday event in Dallas: The Dallas Arboretum’s Christmas display, and brunch at The Zodiac Room at Neiman’s.
Best Santa: Rise No. 1 has a Santa during certain days during the holidays—what is better than Santa and soufflés?
Best local holiday cards source: Read Between the Lines
Best place to see holiday lights: Highland Park
