Dash Next Door

Coco & Dash has been a staple on Henderson Avenue’s row of home decor shops since opening in 2014. This month, fans of Teddie and Courtney Garrigan’s well-curated boutique have even more to love. Acquiring the near-3,000-square-foot vacancy next door has allowed the mother-daughter retailers to expand their eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary lines,  add a new upholstery line,  host design events, and even install a coffee bar. “We love Henderson and our space, in particular,” says Teddie. “It’s such an iconic building, and the neighborhood is booming.”

Rolling Out the Red Carpet

Dallas-based Loloi Rugs stands out among the woven masses, and daytime TV’s leading funny lady has astutely taken note. This January, Loloi launched its latest designer collaboration with ED Ellen DeGeneres. “Her team actually reached out to us looking for a partner to execute rugs, pillows, and throws,” says founder Cyrus Loloi. “I brought her a few pillow samples when we first met in L.A., but she took them all. Home is DeGeneres’ passion.” The collaboration’s seven new rug collections, which also includes 44 pillows and 17 throws influenced by the comedienne’s notable style, will be available to the trade come April.

The Name Game

Since 2012, a pair of bright green doors in the Design District have become synonymous with Scout Design Studio’s worldly vintage discoveries and refurbished finds. But recent visitors have likely seen a shift on the showroom floor. With the launch of Scout Label in 2015, the studio has been steadily introducing their own designs, offering Dallas shoppers the best of both worlds. This year is seeing an increase in Scout Label branded pieces, including a reasonably priced lighting line, rugs, new Lucite seating, mirrors, tables, and a killer chandelier. Though most Scout Label furnishings are made in small quantities, their most popular item—the Linden Bar Stool—will always be in rotation.

All in One

Emily Summers is bringing it all together in Dallas. After closing the doors at Emily Summers Studio in Highland Park Village—her first retail store—in January, the internationally recognized designer packed up her elegant collection of vintage and bespoke furniture to her home office location on Insurance Lane. The expanded space off of Knox Street reopens in March, bringing the showroom and her design work all under one roof.

Bedroom Eyes

Luxury bedding maven Ann Gish is the latest addition to Global Viewsfamily of collaborators, with two five-piece “bedroom-centric” furniture collections—each featuring king- and queen-sized beds, bedside table, floor screen, vanity desk, and accent chair. Rolled out at High Point Market in the fall and introduced at the company’s Dallas showroom in January, Gish’s D’Oro collection of modern silhouettes stands out in silvered raffia and pewter metal trim. The similarly styled Argento collection comes out this spring. Both include opulent touches like metallic leather tassel pulls and velvet upholstery. Though the focus has been on the boudoir with Gish’s initial offerings, the glam pieces—the wing-back accent chairs and tailored vanity desks—easily adorn other rooms.  –Elaine Rogers

Love Stori

Dallas-based Jean Liu’s colorful, contemporary designs aren’t your parent’s patio furniture. The designer recently launched Stori Modern, a concept that came to her while working for another outdoor furnishings brand. “I couldn’t get excited about the lines,” Liu says. “I felt like they catered to an older generation.” Seeing an opening in the market, Liu got to work on pieces that would appeal to modern sensibilities. The designer uses eco-friendly materials in the production of her six striking collections—each of which has a literary title, such as Fairy Tale, Journal, and Tabloid. Stori Modern has another notable edge: It is online only. Her direct-to-consumer approach allows Liu to create high-quality pieces at competitive prices (she estimates 15 to 25 percent less than what they’d cost at a retail store) and offer free next-day shipping to Dallas-area shoppers.

Take It Outside

Texas-native Holly Hunt’s reputation for high style is beautifully represented in her latest foray—holly hunt outdoor. The 25-piece collection promises to elevate any patio with its cast concrete tables, angular aluminum chaise loungers, and upholstered daybeds and sectionals.

Happy Campers

What happens when you combine the classic Adirondack chair with a Dallas-based furnishings company known for defying convention? A unique seat, of course, but also a perfect paradigm for the “less is more” advocates. David Sutherland’s Great Camp Collection features a simple, sophisticated take on the outdoor staple. The large-scale, clean-lined chairs are offered in both teak and powder-coated aluminum and come in 20 different colors. “This is not a chair you happen upon on the landscape,” David Sutherland says. “This is a chair that demands you use it.”
