River Regency’s a Bit of Everything

The latest addition to Riverfront Boulevard’s roster of vintage shops is the brainchild of podiatric surgeon/retailer/reality TV personality Morris “Moe” Prigoff. After occupying various booths around town, where he offered up his cache of contemporary furniture and antiques, Prigoff finally decided to open a place of his own. And like the good doctor himself, it’s definitely not one-note.

A giant crystal Hollywood Regency chandelier sits alongside midcentury modern pieces by the likes of Eames and Saarinen. Unpedigreed art and objects (think disco balls and a giant fishnet-clad leg lamp) bump shoulders with a rare Lysgaard Mobler Danish circular disc cabinet. Art Deco and Art Nouveau make frequent appearances, and a curvy, one-of-a-kind puzzle desk sits front and center in the shop’s entry.

In lesser hands, the scene could read an aesthetic hodgepodge. But thanks to Prigoff’s sense of humor (evident in his antics on A&E’s Storage Wars) and his store manager Robert Solache’s keen eye for arranging the assemblage into cohesive, artful vignettes, everything seems to get along splendidly.
