When noted sculptor Brad Oldham and Reel FX Creative Studio’s Brandon Oldenburg teamed to create “The Traveling Man” series in Deep Ellum, things went even better than expected. Not only did they construct three large-scale installations—Awakening, Walking Tall, and Waiting on a Train—they also stumbled on a potential furniture line. Stainless steel birds, present at all three sites, are meant to embody the souls of the surrounding creative community. And they also provide the perfect perch. “The backs are slightly scooped out, so you can sit on them,” Oldham explains. Expect to order a few for your nest in the next year or so.
