The Mission: Find and photograph an antique that speaks to you.

The Find: A globe desk with zodiac symbols designed in the Biedermeier style and accented with ivory pulls at East & Orient Company. The center area with parquetry floors and mirrored walls was used for display. Hidden drawers are opened with secret buttons.

Age: unknown.

What was the draw? I was immediately drawn to this piece because it’s so different. It’s an object you could explore for hours, looking for secret compartments. Sure, at the end of the day, it’s a desk, but I’ve never seen one like this in my life.
