Pay no mind to the “F” word
Real estate continues to baffle the pundits with slowing reports one day, a quick pick-me-up the next, and use of the “F” word—foreclosure. Luckily, our town is also filled with tales of juicy sales, such as those of Cynthia Beaird of Allie Beth Allman & Associates. She sold a $2.7 million home on Northaven Road in less than 30 days. Or Mark Godson at Adleta Fine Properties who sold his Rheims Place listing to Kim and Justin Whitman. Also of Adleta Fine Properties is Carole McBride, who is selling units at Regent’s Park on Turtle Creek so fast she is almost out of inventory.
The biggest news, of course, is Ebby Halliday Realtors’ aquisition of Dave Perry-Miller and his team of 29 agents. DPM didn’t move physically—his office remains on Sherry Lane. Prior to the May 21 announcement, top-secret negotiations were underway between the power brokers. In order to avoid the press or chatty agents, the parties arranged a secret luncheon at one of Perry-Miller’s listings, but it was cut short when a showing was suddenly scheduled. Lunch was quickly set up at another client’s $6 million listing around the corner. Crisis averted.
While sales may be softening in the entry-level market, local experts agree that investors are still snapping up “bargains” in the Dallas condo market. John Hamilton has announced plans for The Urban Glass Penthouse, designed by Philip Johnson Alan Ritchie Architects of NYC. The condos will go up on the last available piece of property on Turtle Creek Park, 2401 Turtle Creek Blvd.
High-end sales promise to keep local agents in Bentleys. Cynthia Beaird boasted the record-breaking $20 million sale of the Hoaks’ 3.4-acre estate at 7037 Vassar Ave. on May 14. Briggs Freeman Real Estate Brokerage’s Ginger Nobles represented the buyer.
