The demand for eco-safe, energy-efficient products was never more evident than at Greenbuild, an environmentally correct conference recently held in Denver.

More than 700 exhibit booths showcased the latest green products and energy saving systems. Among the most heralded were SageGlass, a ceramic window coating that dramatically cuts solar heat and glare; PaperStone Certified, a waterproof, hard countertop surface made of 100 percent recycled paper; WeatherTRAK, a weather driven outdoor irrigation control system that reduces water usage by up to 59 percent; and Coolerado’s Advanced Air Conditioner, which is two to three times more efficient than traditional systems. But the best buzz went to “grass roofing,” or cool roof, which dramatically reduces heating and cooling costs. Sounds great, but do we have to mow it?
