Color Wash
Overview: “What you may not notice at first glance, other than the colors, is that it’s a very basic space,” Barbara Daseke says. Glass tile in bright shades of red, orange, yellow, and green dominate.
Details: Skilled glass artisans created the perfect foil to the striking walls and floors of color-saturated mosaic tile with a unique, custom shower enclosure. Made of slubbed glass (melted glass that has colored chips inserted into it before firing), it appears almost like a floating sculpture within the space. Persimmon-colored Corian countertops fit the dramatic-but-utilitarian theme, while a neutral under-mounted sink and contemporary polished brass fixtures blend seamlessly. Backlighting adds to the drama, making the multicolored tile pop and highlighting the glass shower enclosure like art.
Idea to Steal: A unique acrylic chair, found in New York, echoes the room’s colors and contemporary style, complementing its angles and curves. A rounded counter and cabinets play off the undulating shape of the shower enclosure.
