WEIRD AND WONDERFUL: Grange Hall/Urban Flower is a funky, fabulous dose of humor amidst the more common couches of Knox-Henderson.

You certainly can’t accuse owners Jeffrey Lee and Rajan Patel of not having a sense of humor. Their new Knox-Henderson shop Grange Hall/Urban Flower (4445 Travis St. 214-443-0600) is bursting with beauty and a mad sense of whimsey. How else can you explain vibrant floral arrangements and genteel silk pillows sandwiched between clay antelope busts and tequila lollipops imbedded with deadly scorpions? Theirs is a welcome and unique voice.

Epicures, rejoice! Your search for the next great marinade is just a kalamata olive’s throw away in Snider Plaza. Flavors From Afar (6705 Snider Plaza. 214-696-2327) is just that: zippy oils, bracing vinegars, and all kinds of munchy goodness from around the world. We fell in love with owners Nancy and Gary Kabrill’s vanilla-fig balsamic vinegar. You will, too.

The French Connection

After Barbara Barry’s defection to the more mass market-inclined Henredon, Baker has rebounded resoundingly with the introduction of a collection designed by Parisian powerhouse decorator Jacques Garcia (left). Garcia, whose most famous public interior is Paris’ sexy Hotel Costes, has created a full line of furniture and lighting for the home, which are an interpretive mix of classic 18th- and 19th-century French forms with a modernist twist. Garcia has also designed throws and throw pillows in five colorways to go with the line, which was introduced at the spring 2004 Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C. Garcia’s superb taste combined with Bakers’ impeccable craftsmanship promises be a marriage made in home-décor heaven. Ooh-la-la.
