PR/strategy pro Carol Reed leads The Reeds Public Relations Corp. in partnership with her daughters, Laura Reed Martin and Angela Reed Shellene. She has handled the campaigns of multiple Dallas mayors including Ron Kirk, the city’s first African-American mayor. (She also ran the race of Tom Dunning, who didn’t make it.) Among major projects for which she’s been a driving force: American Airlines Center, the Omni Dallas Convention Center hotel, and AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Reed, a native Californian who was a cheerleader in high school, says she spends more time in her airy Uptown office than she does at home. Her desk, she says, “is wonderful. When we remodeled in 2002, I wanted something that felt very sleek and also was beautiful. It’s also kind of Asian. It came from the Design District.”
