How many shades darker can a girl stray from her natural color?
Four levels. Any past that and the hair gets too brassy and doesn’t complement skin tone. The color loses its natural glow, and it won’t pop or enhance your natural beauty.

Is it true that you should always pick the lighter of two dark colors?
Yes, because the darker one could be too flat. Without any natural undertones, your hair won’t look as pretty as it could. Chocolate Milan and cocoa are nice colors for fall.

How do you keep hair healthy after a color treatment? What are your favorite products?
Major conditioner always, always, always! The whole Kérastase line has something for everyone, and it puts protein and moisture back in the hair. This restores natural oils, making your hair shiny and flawless.

How can existing brunettes make their hair richer for fall?
Put some cinnamon, caramel, or honey colors in the hair. This will make it more shiny, fresh, and sexy.

How many shades darker can a girl stray from her natural color?
From natural color, two to three levels darker. Any more can make you look washed out. From highlighted color, don’t go more than two levels darker or you’ll go into a corrective situation.

Is it true that you should always pick the lighter of two dark colors?
It’s not necessarily true. My opinion is to pick the warmer of the two shades to make the hair shinier and more light reflective.

How do you keep hair healthy after a color treatment? What are your favorite products?
Conditioners! Everyone in Dallas should be deep conditioning. Darkening does make the hair look healthier, but deep conditioning is still necessary. I like Aveda’s Damage Remedy line as an in-salon treatment. At home, use Aveda’s Color Conserve Strengthening Treatment.

How can existing brunettes make their hair richer for fall?
Temporary color conditioners or demi-permanent colors will add shine and richness without permanence or grow-out lines.

How many shades darker can a girl stray from her natural color?
Anything is possible. However, the darker you get away from your natural color, the harder it is to maintain, and it may not mesh well with your natural tones.

Is it true that you should always pick the lighter of two dark colors?
No way. Variety and change are great. It is color, and you can play with the canvas. Changing your best accessory can change your whole look.

How do you keep hair healthy after a color treatment? What are your favorite products?
Moisture! Darkening gives your hair a break from highlighting, but conditioning helps rebuild weakened hair. The Alchemic line from Davines is formulated depending on tone and is packed with conditioning agents to provide great color protection.

How can existing brunettes make their hair richer for fall?
Adding richness is easy! Warm espresso and milk chocolates are yum, as well as awesome auburns and deep gingers. Adding a few shades can give so much to your look.
