Enablers

This issue is all about the (healthy) foods and (sensible) folks who can help you slim and sculpt your body into the best shape ever.

I have a new fascination: whittling, as in whittling away the post-baby pounds. As a working mom with three babies (yup, triplets), I initially thought I’d never be able to get back to my “fighting weight.” But I’ve since hooked up with a great personal trainer (you’ll meet him; he has some great advice about choosing your own trainer), and he’s helping me shape up and slim down. (The first sign that I was getting real results was that I could buy button-waist pants again, instead of elastic, after a year and a half! I celebrate every small victory.)

So, given my new focus on being leaner and stronger, I was thrilled that our editors put together the “Power Workouts” feature. (These are the kinds of images you tear out and hang in the bathroom, on the fridge, and in your closet for an instant shot of inspiration and motivation each time you see them.) The personal stories of transformation after plastic surgery and weight-loss surgery are also moving and inspiring; Dallas is truly a city of medical miracles.

On top of all that, our editors created three articles on eating your way to a better figure and—get this—radiant skin. After all that hard work and virtuous living, you deserve some pampering, which Dallas delivers in a big way. You’ll find “7 Great Foot Treatments” and some truly indulgent spa services.

Take along your new issue of D Beauty—or look for us in the waiting room; we’re in a lot of spas, salons, and doctors’ offices—and enjoy it while you’re steamed, exfoliated, massaged, and moisturized into nirvana.

Cordially,

Phyllis Cole Spence
