On Tuesday, December 7, D Magazine celebrated the city’s Best New Restaurants of 2021, featured in the December issue. The exclusive festivities, which brought together 175 passionate foodies for a 10-course seated dinner, was held at the Dallas Design District’s On The Levee, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Café Momentum.

Guests enjoyed remarks from D Magazine executive editor Kathy Wise, dining critic Eve Hill-Agnus, and online dining editor Rosin Saez. The evening spoke to the intrepid spirit of the restaurants that were honored for 2021. “To open a restaurant during a pandemic is ludicrous and courageous and challenging,” said Hill-Agnus. “That is why these 12 restaurants are bound together into a cohort like no other, each one a miracle, collectively a group that has meant more than restaurants ever have.”

The meal featured dishes from 10 of the Best New Restaurants 2021 winners: Suburban Yacht Club, Rye, Monarch, Ayahuasca Cantina, Roots Southern Table, Terra at Eataly Dallas, Âme, Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen, Sister, and Meridian, the restaurant of the year. In addition to enjoying a signature bite from each restaurant, guests learned more about each restaurant and the highlighted dish from the featured chefs.

Co-host sponsors El Tesoro and Maker’s Mark showcased specialty cocktails, with some paired with the individual courses. Presenting sponsor Park Place Dealerships showcased two head turning luxury vehicles outside the venue, while inside, Reddy Vineyards poured their award-winning Texas wines. Event partners Marquee Event Rentals, EZ Party Time, and AP Magic were also instrumental in setting the stage for an evening to be remembered.
