Group dates aren’t just for the teenagers anymore. With its many unique features and traditions, Dallas has the perfect elements to balance entertainment with romance for your next group outing. Whether you’re a new couple hoping to take some of the pressure off your date or you want to spend some time with other couples you know, take advantage of these group date ideas.

Take in a Film Under the Stars

Coyote Drive-In is classically themed and offers two films for one ticket. Someone in your group is bound to have a truck–this is Texas, isn’t it? Load up on pillows and blankets and park yourselves in front of the large outdoor screens at this quaint and quirky drive-in theater.

Brewery and Winery Tours

Instead of taking your group to your usual string of bars this weekend, tour one of Dallas’ local (and very delicious) brew houses. Embrace the craft beer culture of Texas with a tour of Deep Ellum Brewing Co., Peticolas Brewing Co., or Four Corners Brewing Co. If you’d rather sit, check out one of BrainDead Brewing‘s beer dinners. If you don’t mind a short drive, head to Grapevine for a tour and taste of one of the city’s many wineries. Delaney Vineyards & Winery, the largest vineyard in North Texas, boasts gorgeous French chateau-inspired architecture, making it one of the most impressive tasting rooms in the area.

Go Bowling

There’s nothing better than old-fashioned competition. The perfect atmosphere for easy, informal fun is exactly what you’ll find at Bowlounge, a bowling alley with a Big Lebowski feel. Order a beer tower (or one of the Big Lebowski-themed drinks), reserve a lane and enjoy the retro atmosphere. Trust us, dude.

Get in the Kitchen

Instead of going out for a sit-down meal, get creative during your group date with a cooking class at Central Market. The variety of culinary journeys provides a perfect hands-on activity that is sure to get you and your group interested. They say the way to one’s heart is through their stomach. We invite you to test that theory.

Belt It Out

With private rooms and an endless list of songs to choose from, karaoke provides an adventurous alternative to a traditional group date that is sure to be both fun and memorable. Get some liquid courage from the bar and duet the night away. If you’re a little shy, try one of Family Karaoke‘s private rooms. If you’re looking for a friendly, welcoming crowd to perform to, go to One Nostalgia Tavern or McKinney Avenue Tavern.

A Day at the Races

Whether you choose to sit up in the Clubhouse or down on the lawn, the horse races at Lone Star Park are sure to be both exciting and surprising for everyone in your group. This unique event can range from super casual to semi-formal and is wonderfully accompanied by great food, fun and atmosphere; you can bet on that, too.

Get in the Game

Dallas is a sports-centric city, and cheering on our local teams is a guaranteed good time, regardless of the sport. While the biggest advantage of this kind of group date could arguably be the game-day hotdogs and brews, it also allows the more casual sports fan to have others to talk to if their date becomes consumed with the game. Tickets for Rangers, Stars, and Mavs games vary, but finding cheap seats–together–is easy with a little planning. Gather your group, and give it a shot.
