D Magazine Partners offers a variety of internships each semester (fall, spring, summer). If you are looking to gain invaluable real-world media industry experience, you’ve come to the right place. Each internship position is a different learning experience, but nevertheless, what you will gain from working with our company is a road map for your future career endeavors.
Working in the media industry is a fast-paced environment. Qualified candidates for our program must be able to work under demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment, as well as possess excellent computer, communication and organizational skills. The D Magazine Partners internship program is highly competitive, and our interns are held to a high standard. Candidates must be available to work anywhere from 12 to 24 hours a week and commit to the full term of the semester. You must be at least 18 years old to apply. The D Magazine Partners Internship program is unpaid.

D Magazine Partners Ad Sales Intern
Have you ever wondered how those beautiful land in the pages of your favorite magazines? Are you curious to find out how your favorite brands show up on your social media feeds? We provide a behind-the-scene experience to the business side of the publishing world through our advertising sales department.
D’s growing advertising team is looking for high-energy, creative, and enthusiastic self-starters who share our passion for the advertising industry. Our interns gain a coveted first-hand experience in the advertising/marketing industry by working alongside our top ad directors for D Magazine, D Home, D Weddings, D CEO, and D Online. Plus, they gain direct access to networking with marketing directors of local and national luxury retailers, jewelers, high-end automotive dealers, liquor companies, and advertising agencies. Our multi-tasking interns can expect to tackle responsibilities of the sales cycle such as prospecting new clients, conducting first-hand sales calls, producing promotional material, updating account information, partnering on follow-up calls, and joining spontaneous brainstorming sessions for creative client advertising solutions.

D CEO Ad Sales Intern
Our advertising team is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who can put the client’s needs first. As an intern in the advertising department, you will gain first-hand experience in the industry by working alongside our ad directors and executives on client services and business development for the DCEO Publication. This internship works closely with marketing and brand departments for special sections and event sponsorship opportunities. Opportunities for this position include: attending planning meetings and networking events, accompany ad directors on sales calls, research/prospect clients, and aid in maintaining client relationships. People Newspapers Advertising & Marketing Intern
Our advertising team is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who can put the client’s needs first. As an intern in the advertising department, you will gain first-hand experience in the industry by working alongside our publisher and advertising executives on client services and business development initiatives for Park Cities People and Preston Hollow People. This internship works on marketing and branding for special sections and event sponsorship opportunities. Opportunities for this position include: attending planning meetings and networking events, accompany staff research/prospect clients, and aid in maintaining client relationships. Qualified candidates should have a background in advertising, marketing, or corporate communications and an interest in client services and account management. Ideal for Interns interested in event planning, promotions, and media marketing. An ideal applicant will be detail-oriented, creative, organized, and self-motivated. With this internship you will observe, assist with planning and execute an event, assist with data entry, research, mailings, and promotional materials. Must be willing to dedicate office hours as well as weekend or holiday hours to assist on the execution events.
Responsibilities include monthly mailers, updating account information, follow up calls, production instructions, and learning about the sales process, as well as all of the steps taken to put every issue together.
D Magazine Partners Production/Art Intern
Learn how we make those glossy magazine pages look so good and get practical experience along with some great samples for your portfolio. You will be working closely with production and art teams on design, management of assets, color correction and prepress. This is a great opportunity for a designer to see how it takes more than a good eye, to get the job done. Interns will assist in photo research, page layout, and ad creation. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is REQUIRED.
Responsibilities include helping with the work flow of the Production Team (e.i. helping create dummies, reflow pages), working on special sections in D and other publications, creating ads, and learning the production flow of magazines.

We’re looking for a photography intern; preferably a student who is interested in a career as a photographer. Assignments will consist of typical news photography (portraits, events, etc…), as well as “lifestyle” photography that depicts Dallas neighborhoods and beautiful and magical. Flexible schedule.
Responsibilities include scheduling and arranging photoshoots and building your photography skills while completing editorial and lifestyle photography assignments for Dallas Regional Chamber products.
People Newspapers, Production Intern
The ideal candidate will assist the Production Manager and other personnel with a wide-variety of projects including newspaper layout, website management, and photography. Exceptional communication and team-driven abilities required. Must have a strong background working with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. WordPress experience is a plus.
Responsibilities include actively contributing to our print and online products, assisting production and other departments with web content and maintenance, and photographing various events within our community.
Web Production Intern
The web production intern will be working closely with web, brand, sales and audience development on design, management of assets, and research. This is a great opportunity to learn about visual design, how to navigate WordPress, and create effective branding for the digital space. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is REQUIRED.
Responsibilities include uploading all print content to our website, assisting creating ads, creating various event collateral, and asset management.
D Custom Design/Production Intern
Learn how to produce high-value assets across industries and mediums. The ideal candidate will work alongside our Creative Director and Art Directors on print and online publication elements including magazine layouts, online imagery, and web design elements. Must have a strong background working with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. WordPress experience is preferred.
Responsibilities include helping with the work flow of the Art/Production department, learning the production flow of print and online projects, and assisting in sourcing materials across client projects.
D Magazine Editorial Intern
If glossy magazines give you a thrill, this is the internship for you. D Magazine editorial interns are smart, reliable, detail-oriented, talented, and curious. We’re looking for good writers and reporters who aren’t afraid to pick up the phone. Interns work closely with print staff to make every issue as perfect as possible, and primary responsibilities include fact-checking articles, covering local events, blogging, and working on projects for other departments and publications as availability and interest permits. Especially successful candidates will have an interest in pitching and writing for the front of the book section. You’ll discover the glamorous—and sometimes not-so-glamorous—side of publishing, and gain tons of real-world magazine experience along the way.
Responsibilities include fact checking for various issues, writing for online and print, helping with special projects, and research/contributions to the Best of Big D issue, among others.
D CEO Editorial Intern
Are you looking for real-world journalism experience? Do you follow multiple news sources daily? Do you want to learn about the fast-paced world of business journalism and collect bylines at the same time? The award-winning business division of D Magazine Partners—which includes D CEO (print and online), D CEO Real Estate, D CEO Healthcare, the Dallas 500, and D Real Estate Annual—is looking for talented, organized, and committed interns. You will have the opportunity to build your portfolio and resume by writing magazine stories for print, as well as online news reports covering a variety of industries. You’ll also gain invaluable fact-checking and proofreading experience, perform editorial research, attend issue planning meetings, and work on other editorial tasks.
Responsibilities include online coverage via D CEO Healthcare, D CEO Real Estate, and D CEO, print stories, as well as copy editing.
D Home & D Weddings Editorial Intern
We need an energetic, smart, organized, reliable, and creative intern with an interest (or experience) in design, fashion, and weddings. If you have an interest in blogging, even better. The intern’s primary responsibilities include: writing, pitching ideas, and taking photos for our two blogs; fact-checking copy for our magazines; uploading events and trunk shows to the events section of the website; picking up and dropping off items for photo shoots; assisting editors with photo shoots; and writing small blurbs and entries for our magazines. There is a good amount of fact-checking, so the intern must be comfortable with making phone calls.
Responsibilities include fact checking for both D Home and D Weddings print products, interview brides and write wedding and engagement posts for the blog, research and execute new blog post ideas, and perform occasional research projects as needed.
D Custom Editorial Intern
D Custom, an award-winning content marketing agency, is in need of a detail-oriented, energetic editorial intern. You’ll play a key role in producing a variety of content for a client base consisting of major global brands. If you’re looking to hone your editorial skills in pioneering ways across new media, this is the place to do it. Through this internship, you will learn the cutting edge of content creation and brand marketing, as well as old-school writing and editing skills. You’ll be a critical part of a hard-working team fueled by snacks and caffeine — and end up with some great samples of work to add to your portfolio.
Responsibilities include brainstorming, writing, editing, research, proofreading, and fact-checking. Projects will include execution and implementation of digital programs and management of editorial initiatives. The intern will have the opportunity to write clips for use in portfolios.
D Magazine Online Editorial Intern
You will write about the news and subjects that have Dallas talking for dmagazine.com. You’ll be encouraged and prodded to develop and pitch your own stories, but we have plenty of ideas to get you started. We cover a little bit of everything, with room for short news pieces, long features, funny columns, and anything else that fits with our editorial voice and coverage. You will get plenty of published clips to show your journalism professors/prospective future employers, and will learn about the new dynamics of digital media.
Responsibilities include writing stories on any number of subjects, working on one longer feature story, and helping with various projects/story assignments as needed.
D Magazine Online Editorial Intern (Lifestyle)
You’ll cover all things Dallas lifestyle, from local real estate eye candy to the buzziest new shops or fitness classes. We’re looking for a hardworking, reliable, energetic intern with an interest (or experience) in writing about home design, shopping, and wellness. You’ll be encouraged to develop and pitch your own stories, but we have plenty of ideas to get you started. We cover a little bit of everything, with room for short news pieces, long features, funny columns, and anything else that fits with our editorial voice and coverage. You will get plenty of published clips to show your journalism professors/prospective future employers, and will learn about the new dynamics of digital media.
Responsibilities include pitching and writing stories for D Magazine’s Home Design, Health, and Style channels, and helping with various projects/story assignments as needed.
Dallas Innovates Editorial Intern
Are you in love with words as much as you are with starting new projects? Then we need your vision. We’re continuing to grow a new website called Dallas Innovates, which has a mission to promote the region as a hub of innovation. A collaboration of the Dallas Regional Chamber and D Magazine Partners, the site covers everything innovative in social, creative, education, startups, enterprise, and inventions. Our intern will be writing posts, attending events, helping with social media, attending video interviews, and searching for content. He or she will also help with the technical side of things (uploading posts, resizing photos, and a little editing). We’re looking for a writer who loves telling stories about the people and companies who are new, now, next. We need someone who takes direction well, keeps organized, and takes the initiative on projects. And since we’re a startup, we’re looking for that creative individual who can adapt as we grow.
Responsibilities include writing briefs and feature stories for Dallas Innovates website, establishing relationships in the community to deepen source network, and providing research, proofing and other editorial support tasks for Dallas Innovates.
People Newspapers Editorial Intern
People Newspapers is looking for interns willing to juggle multiple assignments and take responsibility for a variety of projects, including editing police blotters, proofreading, writing blog posts, pitching story ideas, and writing stories. We need applicants with a love for the AP Stylebook and a desire to learn what makes a community special. In addition to the editorial side of things, you will help promote our brand through social media strategies, looking for potential clients, and maintaining existing client relationships. You will attend a variety of Dallas society events, so you must be outgoing and respect social etiquette.
Responsibilities include writing articles as well as blog and social media posts, researching stories, fact checking, coming up with story ideas, and making deadlines. Interns represent the newspapers at Dallas society events and on story assignments, assist with special events, conduct interviews, and sometimes take photographs.
The FrontRow Editorial intern is a strong writer who’s passionate about the arts, curious about the city, and eager to immerse themselves in the local scene. Photography skills are a big plus, though not required. They’ll have at least two bylines a week on the website and will be included in planning and executing larger projects with the web team. Strong writing skills and an interest in the arts are required.
Responsibilities include pitching, reporting, and writing stories; helping the editor with things like research and event listings; and occasionally taking photos for the website. The intern will interview artists, review concerts, attend cultural events, and write about all of Dallas’ happenings in music, theater, film, visual art, and literature.
We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic intern to assist us with editorial research. You’ll help plan and execute D Magazine‘s Best programs (Best of Big D, Best Doctors, Best Lawyers, and many others). You’ll work with many departments including editorial, marketing, sales, and design. Primary responsibilities include fact-checking information by phone, email or Internet, updating our online directory, and working within data collection platforms. Experience with Excel is preferred but not required. If you have great time management skills, enjoy working on many different projects, and have fun fresh ideas, then you will make a great addition to our team.
Research intern is responsible for fact-checking and updating our online directories (shops, services, restaurants, bars, etc.), assisting with planning and execution of editorial “D Best” programs (best lawyers, best doctors, etc.) from voting to fact-checking, assisting with the planning and execution of D Magazine-sponsored events, panels and celebrations, and assisting with the design and execution of social media and email marketing campaigns promoting D Best events and programs.
Audience Development Intern
D Magazine Partners is seeking an ambitious, eager-to-learn intern to join the Digital Audience Development team. The role will report directly to the Audience Development Coordinator and learn how to manage a digital marketing campaign from start to finish.
This individual will assist in working with internal teams and external partners to identify and execute marketing campaigns cross-brand to grow and retain audiences across our digital platforms. He or she will be responsible for assisting in creating marketing plans, creative briefs, drafting copy, and analyzing reporting for each of our campaigns. He or she will also assist in acquiring new users and retaining current subscribers for our various subscription products.
Data Entry Intern
We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic intern to assist us with data entry. You’ll help plan and execute data entry needs for D Magazine’s Best Programs (Best of Big D, Best Doctors, Best Lawyers, and many others) and the Online Directory. You’ll be in a supportive role working with many departments including editorial, marketing and sales.
Primary responsibilities of the Data Entry Intern include fact-checking information by phone, email or Internet, updating our online directory, and working within data collection platforms. Experience with Excel is strongly recommended but not required. If you have great time management skills, enjoy working on many different projects, and have amazing attention to detail, then you will make a great addition to our team.
D Magazine Marketing Events Intern
The marketing department is looking for interns interested in event planning, promotions, and media marketing. An ideal applicant will be detail-oriented, creative, organized, and self-motivated. As a marketing intern you will observe, plan, and execute events, assist with data entry, research, mailings, and promotional materials. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced sales and marketing environment. Knowledge of Adobe creative suite is a plus. Must be willing to dedicate office hours as well as evenings to assist on the execution events.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting in the planning and execution of marketing events, create event photo galleries for the D Magazine website, and assisting the Marketing Events team in procuring event materials as well as brainstorming new and innovative event ideas.
D CEO Marketing Events Intern
The marketing department is looking for interns interested in event planning, promotions, and media marketing. An ideal applicant will be detail-oriented, creative, organized, and self-motivated. As a marketing intern you will observe, plan, and execute events, assist with data entry, research, mailings, and promotional materials. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced sales and marketing environment. Knowledge of Adobe creative suite is a plus. Must be 21 to apply. Must be available to work evening events.
D Magazine Partners Brand Intern
This position focuses on marketing D Magazine editorial content, company/brand news, seminars, and events. Responsibilities will include developing contact lists, working with outside media, fact-checking data, assisting the marketing team with events, and developing creative promotional ideas. Additionally, and most importantly, the brand intern will help manage our social media strategy. Social media experience, good writing skills, and organizational skills are a must. If you like the pace of a political campaign and like working with young, fun, creative people and can manage an internship that offers no pay but great experience, the brand team may be for you. Must be 21 at time of internship to apply.
Responsibilities include assisting with media sponsorships and D events, helping organize and build our list of influencers, contribute content to all of our social media platforms, and help organize/coordinate with the editors for the 2018 BOBD Reader’s Choice program.
D Custom Marketing Intern
D Custom is looking for a creative, independent, and curious intern to assist on multiple projects. At our award-winning content marketing agency, you’ll play a vital role in making content move from a concept to a full-fledged campaign all while gaining experience in a fast-paced agency environment. Candidate should exhibit strong verbal and writing communication skills, great research abilities, and the ability to quickly switch gears. Experience with WordPress, email software, and social media platforms is preferred.
Responsibilities include conducting research and competitive analyses, writing posts for the D Custom blog, assisting in marketing initiatives and campaigns, preparing business development materials, and assisting in the creation of marketing collateral.
DRC Publications Media Development Intern
The Media Development intern will assist in the print and digital publications of Dallas Innovates, a news publication that highlights the Dallas-Fort Worth area as a hub of innovation, as well as other DRC publications, and will play a role in the development and implementation of print and digital content. This internship will give you a “lay of the land” view of the publishing world, with hands-on opportunities to assist in photo research and create art for DRC Publications. Thinking like an entrepreneur is a major part of this internship, which feeds on multiple tasks and projects. Qualified candidates will have extensive experience with graphic design and marketing or related fields. Prior experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, and/or a related program is required. Innovative thinking, great attention to detail, organization, and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to meet deadlines are all a must. Strong writing skills are preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities include assisting in photo research, creating art for DRC Publications, research and analysis, and keeping up with media industry news and local competitors. Other duties are varied and may include participating in events.
