Hot Property: A Midcentury Modern-Inspired Home in Highland Park

This week, we’re loving 3902 Fairfax Avenue, a chic Highland Park home built in 2016. The architecture is a modern take on midcentury modernism, and the asymmetrical exterior marries brick, metal, and glass. Between the branches of the two towering trees in the front lawn, you can spot glimpses of the home’s interior through its expansive windows.

The property listing employs the phrase “casual elegance,” and it’s an apt description for this clean-lined contemporary whose finishes are polished but understated.

In the main living room, for example, a fireplace blends into a simple light stone mantle, and the nearby kitchen is awash with whites, grays, and warm neutrals. A floating staircase also mixes wood and iron, making the steps a focal point in the foyer.

The 4,000-square-foot interior is filled with natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows in nearly every room including the bedrooms. In the primary suite, the airy aesthetic continues with a glass shower and a fireplace flanked by even more windows.

Though this property’s backyard doesn’t have much by way of a lawn, it does have a beautiful contemporary pool, and the outdoor living areas are surrounded by trees for a secluded feel.
