If you’re a regular D Home reader, you might recognize today’s Hot Property right away. The stunning, ivy-covered sanctuary has graced our pages several times throughout the years, including a spot in our 10 Most Beautiful Homes feature.
The Highland Park home was designed by acclaimed architects Marion Fooshee and James Cheek, who also designed Highland Park Village. It was completed in 1930, and we’d guess that its façade has remained largely untouched for the past 90 years. The white stucco exterior is accented by a green Juliet balcony, a Spanish-style roof, and a stained glass window.
This bohemian build couldn’t have a more fitting owner–it’s currently occupied by Brittany Cobb, the founder of Flea Style, and her family. Cobb’s signature style, an eclectic mix of global and antique pieces, is in every room.
In 2013, D Home visited Cobb to explore the décor in her historic home. “Everything in this house is vintage or an antique find usually on the thrifty side,” Cobb said. “There are very few new items. That’s a major thing for me and the way I shop. I think it’s what makes a home one of a kind.” In the living room, for example, the chairs are from an antique store in East Texas, while the walls are adorned with a mirror from the Salvation Army and art from a North Dallas estate sale.
The home’s interior will be a beautiful blank canvas for its next owners, regardless of their design aesthetic–it’s brimming with arched windows, crown molding, and built-in shelves. Every room has a tiny touch of modernity, like patterned wallpaper in the dining room or shimmering tile accents in the master bath.
Be sure to check out the backyard, where a tiled fountain in the pool is draped with greenery and a pergola has been converted into an outdoor lounge.
