On November 2 and 3, the AIA Dallas Tour of Home returns to showcase some of the city’s most interesting homes, all hand-chosen by architects. It’s the mother of all home tours, really—one that recognizes innovative architecture regardless of neighborhood boundaries.
This year, you can visit a new build in the coveted Northern Hills conservation district, a mid-century makeover in Lakewood, and an updated ranch outside Melshire Estates. Each week leading up to the event, we’ll share a sneak peek of one of the seven homes on the tour.
With their love of Lakewood’s historic architecture, the owners knew they would need to find the right architect—one that could seamlessly combine new and old—to tackle their dream renovation of a mid-century home on Alexander Drive.
Eddie Maestri was the perfect collaborator. The team added a second story, a garage, a spacious back porch, and a central front courtyard that highlighted a mature oak tree. The more modern home is still filled with mid-century influences, along with a thoughtful curation of high-end finishes, vintage-inspired tile and lighting, and commissioned art.
