Escape to This Magical, Modern ‘Treehouse’ by White Rock Lake

Looking at pictures of this Airbnb, I had my doubts that it was in Dallas. It’s not often you see a local home that so beautifully blends Bauhaus contemporary style with rustic charm. It’s also not often that you see a city dwelling surrounded by winding gravel paths, forested canopies, and a babbling brook.

But, awesomely, those Japanese maple trees are indeed within Dallas’ city limits; in Little Forest Hills to be exact. To be fair, Little Forest Hills is a bit more fun than most other Dallas neighborhoods — their unofficial mottos is “Keep Forest Hills Funky.” But this is an exceptionally fun house.

Once you arrive by tiny, adorable bridge, the Little Forest Hills “treehouse” is a feast for your eyes (and your Instagram, probably). Constructed predominately with stone and wood, the light-filled home exudes cozy at every corner, but has enough modern amenities and contemporary elements to keep the experience from ever approaching “roughing it” status. (Check out our slideshow for a full view of the interior.)

It’s only been available to rent since July 2017, but the listing already garnered several five star reviews. If you want to see those adorable his and hers sinks up close, get to booking.
