Located just 20 minutes from downtown Dallas, 2717 Conflans Road is a notable retreat. The ’70s-era home sits on a private, gated 1.3-acre lot, and has the particular cachet of being designed by architect Kelly Oliver, an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright.

That wallcovering we mentioned. See? Pretty groovy.

Wright’s influence is evident throughout the home, from its low-pitched roof and open floor plan to the emphasis on nature. Each room of the 6,066-square-foot dwelling opens onto a 3,470-square-foot interior courtyard designed by Naud Burnette, and as striking as those solid-core maple front doors are, this lushly landscaped situation might be the main attraction. There’s a geometric, heated saltwater pool, lovely walkways, and lots and lots of trees (palm and tall, mature ones alike).

Then again, the light-filled interior really is something. Built-ins abound (also in keeping with Wright’s style), fireplaces are covered in Tennessee fieldstone, hinges and handles are made of custom-forged bronze, and Kyle Machlachlan’s Twin Peaks character would go absolutely nuts for those exposed Douglas fir-beamed ceilings. There’s also a redwood sauna, and a groovy, modern wallcovering in the entry, coatroom, and powder room that Oliver designed specifically for the home.

(We’d be remiss in not mentioning some dated appliances and an ample amount of carpet at points, but this house was built in the ’70s, man.)

At the end of the day, the main attraction of 2717 Conflans Road is whatever you want it to be. Perhaps it’s the attached greenhouse, or those aforementioned maple doors with cedar wood block detailing that your heart desires. The entertaining potential of the built-in music center and that heated pool might call your name. Maybe you just really want to be able to namedrop Frank Lloyd Wright. We get that! And for $749,000, you could get it all.
