Recently, I went to go see the movie Colossal. I did no research beforehand. All I knew was that it had gotten good ratings and featured Anne Hathaway, Jason Sudeikis, and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast (that guy is really having a moment!). And since it’s cool to like Anne Hathaway again, that’s really all I needed to know. I expected a rom-com-like movie, with some sort of love triangle scenario between Beast, Sudeikis, and our girl Anne, but I was wrong (so wrong), and in the best way possible. You should go see it!
All of that is to say that my experience looking at this barn house was similar to watching Colossal. I expected shabby chic. I expected shiplap for days, and a rustic dining room table beneath a dainty chandelier. I braced myself for doilies. But, for the second time this week, I was wrong in a glorious way.
Behind the sliding barn doors, you’ll find a thoughtful, open floor plan, stainless steel appliances, sleek concrete flooring, and industrial-style light fixtures. The backyard has the kind of plunge pool you might find behind a Highland Park home, with a covered outdoor area that includes a fireplace and a flat-screen hookup. Less obvious pros include the home’s energy efficient foam insulation, white cement siding, a metal roof, and energy-saving fans throughout.
There’s also a napping loft, which is almost certainly the real estate equivalent of the Dan Stevens’ soothing British accent.
