Open Houses to Hit This Weekend

By Caitlin Clark |

Do you like to home ogle? Do you like driving by houses and thinking to yourself, “I’ve been in there before; the indoor pool was quite appealing.” Do you actually need to find a new home? Each week, we scout out three open houses in three different neighborhoods that look well worth the trip.

4611 Arcady Avenue | Sunday, 3-5pm

The Neighborhood: Highland Park

The Price: $769,000

The Square Footage: 1,610

Why It Looks Cool: If you hit any open houses this weekend, you should probably stop by this one. Partially because it has that special allure a home acquires after being featured twice in Veranda, but it also looks like the manifestation of a Nancy Meyers fever dream. Perhaps most importantly, though, it’s a beautiful Highland Park home priced decidedly below $1 million dollars—a rare sighting, indeed.

47 Vanguard Way | Sunday, 2-4pm

The Neighborhood: Lake Highlands

The Price: $765,000

The Square Footage: 2,331

Why It Looks Cool: I love a good orange door. I also love a home that has that whole sleek urban loft thing going on, despite not actually being a loft, or located downtown. But more than anything, I love seeing this much white marble anywhere at anytime. (Sidebar: this is also one of the award-winning Dwelling Series modern homes.)

5946 Mercedes Avenue | Sunday, 1-3pm

The Neighborhood: Lower Greenville

The Price: $829,900

The Square Footage: 3,255

Why It Looks Cool: If someone asked me to close my eyes and imagine my dream M Streets Tudor, I have to say, this is pretty much it. Aside from a few missed marks on the décor front (a bright red kitchen rug is hard to pull off!), I would abandon my overpriced apartment to move into this home—or even just the sunroom of this home—at any given moment. (It should be understood that the home is free in my hypothetical.)
