Madre3There’s no better score than finding the perfect gift for your girlfriend and her little one in one fell swoop, which is why we crowned MADRE the “Best Place to Shop for the Baby and Mom Who Has Everything.”

We caught up with the creative minds behind MADRE’s carefully curated stock to help you get better acquainted with the newest neighbor among the trendy bungalows-turned-boutiques on West Lovers Lane.

{1} How would you describe MADRE’s design aesthetic?

We love to use color and incorporate both classic and modern styles in our designs.

{2} What do you enjoy most about focusing on children’s spaces?

Children’s spaces are always happy places. They are playful, and clients are often willing to take a little more risk with color and pattern.

{3} If I needed a baby gift right now, what would be your top suggestion?

Tough one because we have so many great options! A monogrammed bag, bib, or boudoir plow is always appreciated. We love giving something customized with the baby’s name or initials because it shows you went to that extra bit of effort. We also love our leather animal bookends that are the perfect addition to any nursery.

{4} The artwork you’ve sourced for Madre is so lovely. It’s perfect for little ones but never cheesy. Can you tell us more about your collaboration with artists Caitlin McGauley, Gray Malin and Kate Schelter?

We love all of these artists and worked with Kate Bellin Contemporary to bring them to MADRE. The subjects they portray work great in kids’ rooms, and beyond. The one of a kind watercolors really make a space unique, and they will even do custom work for our clients. We believe children’s rooms should be an extension of the decor throughout the rest of the home; albeit a lighthearted one, and should never be cheesy or trite.

{5} What is your favorite thing about being a part of the trendy cottages-turned-boutiques on West Lovers Lane?

The location is perfect for where we live and for so many other people with families. Being in a small bungalow helps customers to feel relaxed and at ease while shopping. It is a welcoming and unique experience versus being in a shopping center or mall.
