Get Inspired by This Picture-Perfect Garden Party

From plant place to party place.

I’m not going to pretend to be a garden party expert. I don’t even have a garden. But gosh darn it if I don’t want to throw one. Lucky for me, I work at D Home, where the design inspiration flows like wine! Lucky for you, I like to share.

D_Home_Alexander_117You’ll find a pretty party or two rifling through the pages of old D Home issues, but with my mind set on a garden soirée, one of those get-togethers stood out among the rest. Namely: Nest owner Heather Wiese-Alexander’s crazy chic greenhouse party.

Actually, the entire University Park home of the former Neiman Marcus art director, creator of luxury papery Bell’Invito, and Nest owner was featured in our September/October 2010 issue. The transformation of the old Craftsman style house does not disappoint, but the greenhouse out back is what initially caught my eye, as well as Alexander’s. It was one of the main reasons she and her husband decided to buy the University Boulevard home. But what began a plant place quickly became a party place after discovering the idea to hang chandeliers in the greenhouse during a shopping trip to Venice.

I can only imagine the kind of wonderful conversations that would take place around this table, but until I find the means to pull off something as lovely as this little set up, perusing these photos for a little inspiration will just have to do.

Party Points:

Alexander’s Go-To Caterer: Tre Wilcox
Conversation is King: “Invite six interesting people with varied interests,” says Alexander.
