TV Home Envy: Mindy Lahiri

Where our television besties or boyfriends would get design inspiration in the Big D.

There’s a reason our favorite TV characters feel like family. They’re invited into our homes each week; sometimes many times over when binge watching. But as often as we let them into our homes, we are also granted a glimpse into theirs, leaving us to wonder where our television besties or boyfriends would get design inspiration in the Big D. Here, we plan to share those musings.

Mindy Lahiri | The Mindy Project

Our first “TV Home Envy” entry belongs to one of our favorite unrealistic NYC apartment owners: Mindy Lahiri. Yes, she’s a doctor, but surely most of her budget would go towards her Chanel bags or Oscar de la Renta tweed coats. She even rocks the same dress as Duchess Kate from time to time. But that’s why this series is called “TV” home envy and not “that friend who did a really decent job decorating her studio apartment” home envy. Mindy’s apartment is a major reflection of her personal style: girly, bold, and unapologetic. She’s that rare kind of girl who can pull off those quote shirts from Wildfox, so we can definitely see her embracing everything from statement pillows and chevron to tiny owl statuettes.

Dr. Lahiri’s design store of choice: Jonathan Adler.
