One man's trash is this woman's treasure.

It’s not very often that you meet somebody who will admit that everything in their home is trash—or at least, once was. But Jenny Grumbles, owner of the soon-to-be-closed Uptown Country Home and former Storage Wars superstar, is up front about it. “I’d describe my home as trash to treasure vintage chic,” she says. “There are so many pieces that I found literally in a dumpster or at a storage auction. They look fancy and expensive now, but they weren’t at one time.”

Grumbles is famous for her refurnishing skills, which she learned from her mother. Her favorite spots to shop for items that needs a lot of TLC include Frisco Mercantile, Lula B’s, White Elephant Antiques Warehouse, and the town square of McKinney.

In 2012 Grumbles met and married Loren Koziol, and they recently welcomed a son. When it comes to sharing a space with two men, she says she’s had to tone it down a little bit.

“My favorite color is pink,” she says. “But I married a man and had a son, so the only pink that I’ve been able to get away with is the formal front living room and a bathroom.” But Grumbles’ didn’t have to compromise too much—her Preston Hollow home still has a lot of color, patterns, and textures, except for when it comes to the master bedroom. “I wanted the master bedroom to feel more like a hotel since there is so much going on in the rest of the house. It’s the calm and peaceful room.”

Grumbles and her husband collaborated for their sports room, which houses Koziol’s extensive collection of jerseys, cards, balls, and other collectables. Another room they designed together is their son’s nursery, which was designed around HGTV’s Flower Tower fabric.

While Uptown Country Home may be closing their doors in Snider Plaza, Grumbles will keep her business going online and at a booth at Richardson Mercantile.
