AIA Tour of Homes: The Parade of Houses

The American Institute of Architects tour is coming up the first weekend of November. We’ve been patiently waiting all summer to find out what homes are on the docket, and AIA has been kind enough to let us reveal them to you right here on D Home. So stop by every morning until 9/29 to find out what houses are on the tour and why they were selected. First off, a note from Jennifer Workman, a c0-chair for the event. The weather is beginning to cool off, and for me that signals the homeward stretch toward the annual AIA Dallas Tour of Homes held on November 1st and 2nd. This is the only tour in Dallas that doesn’t look at one type of home from one neighborhood, but instead selects homes throughout the city designed
only by Dallas architects.

After viewing many homes submitted by architects, the home tour committee shook things up by choosing not only the contemporary homes you would expect to see, but also what many people look for themselves – homes that have been remodeled by an architect.

We also went green and selected a home designed to be the first LEED Platinum residence in Highland Park (certification pending) and trust me beauty is not sacrificed for sustainability. To top it off, you simply can’t pass up a first look at the widely publicized container home, which features an amazing view over White Rock Lake to downtown! Want an inside look at the homes before the tour begins?

Download the AIA Dallas Tour of Homes app, which is updated every year to guide you through the tour. If you really can’t wait for the tour to begin, we will kick things off with the Premier Party on October 30th which always features the most exclusive home as it can only be seen that night and by purchasing a separate premiere party ticket from AIA Dallas.
