A Sneak Peek of Pirch

Another reason to go to NorthPark.

Yesterday was the media preview of Pirch, the new home plumbing and appliance store opening to the public this Saturday at NorthPark Center, and a few lucky D Home staffers were able to get a sneak peek of the space. The California-based company has made their Texas debut in a big, beautiful way, with a store that’s high on style and low on pressure, with an emphasis on experience. They carry the best brands in fridges, faucets, stoves, showers, and more, and they partner with more than 50 brands of cabinetry-, countertop-, and tile-makers to make it a one-stop kitchen, bath, and outdoor wonderland.

So what should you know before you visit? First: Arrive thirsty and/or under-caffeinated. Barista stations at both the exterior and mall entrances are there to greet you with a warm cup of java to sip as you make your way around. Before you know it, you’ll arrive at the Savor kitchen, where a team of chefs will be teaching a cooking class, whipping up snacks, or sharing the company’s famous mac-and-cheese recipe. So actually, come hungry, too.

Second: Wear comfortable shoes. With 32,000 square feet of store to traverse and dozens of stations and vignettes to peruse, you’ll be there a while.

Third: Be prepared to get hands-on. The store prides itself on letting their customers test drive everything. Like that Bertazzoni oven? Open it up! Turn those knobs! Want to know how the pressure is on that Gessi faucet? Crank it on! Or how it’d look paired with that sleek Alchemy sink basin? Grab one off the magnetized shelf and stick it behind the bowl! Go nuts!

Last: Bring your bikini. I’m not joking. Pirch makes good on their promise that you can truly try anything in the store—including the showers. The in-store Sanctuary is a closed-off, spa-like space that you can reserve so you can see if you prefer a rainshower faucet or a jetted tub. Then once you’ve toweled off, pick up some home accessories in the center boutique area, where Laura and I spotted a weekender tote, some petrified-wood chargers, and metallic-gold sponges we can’t live without. They even have a leather fly swatter that would make exterminating insects look good.

The grand opening of Pirch is taking place this Saturday, August 23.
