The New Hästens Platinum Bed is Available Now – But Not for Long

The Hastens Platinum bed is made using a unique weaving technique that results in a shimmery checked pattern.

The Swedish bedmaker has been crafting and designing beds for a long time – 161 years to be exact. To this day, the Hästens brand still makes each piece in a factory in Köping, Sweden utilizing expert artisans and craftsman who use unique materials such as horsehair and Swedish pine. The best part about the brand’s handmade beds? They breathe, allowing for ventilation and temperature control. (I think I heard a few people rejoice.)

The Oak Lawn boutique recently held editor one-on-one meetings to show off their new limited edition Platinum bed. The bed pays homage to the rare precious metal. The design features a variation of the classic check pattern in a shimmery fabric that is created using an innovative weaving technique. The accents of silver metallic threading are part of the unique appeal. The Platinum edition is only available during the Fall/Winter 2013 season. The bed retails for $9,140.
