A Gift Guide For the Procrastinator: Shopping TenOverSix

Spotted from the window: The Ernest Pouffe by Donna Wilson.

Today was the perfect day to mosey to the Joule Hotel to check out the new shopping spots. I covered the wedding and event spaces here, but today’s mission: home goods and gifts. Raya and Jos have already covered the opening of TenOverSix and interviewed the owners, but today I was on the hunt for accessible items that I could take home with me that day. I’m all about immediate gratification. I’m also all about being able to pick up a last-minute hostess gift, kid’s birthday party item, or father’s day gift. We don’t have many options downtown (Nasher gift store, CVS, and Neiman Marcus being some of our only go-tos), so I’m pumped that the new “Presents” space offers up an alternative. Here’s a quick gift guide for picking up those aforementioned last-minute gifts.

Just Because I Love It Gift To Myself Gift: The Ernest Pouffe by Donna Wilson ($350-650, pictured right) is made from lambswool, knitted in Scotland, and available in three colors (red, green, black) and sizes.

Your BFF Just Had a Baby Gift: Manimal Baby Moccasins ($60) are cute, comfy, and hand-made in Brooklyn.

Your Co-Worker Needs a Pick-Me-Up Gift: There’s a slew of fun, affordable, and original gift items located at the register. Think: cards, desk accessories (loving the quirky paperclips in tin boxes), and clock key chains.

A Fort Standard bottle opener ($80).

Four Year Old Birthday Party And You Don’t To Drive To BuyBuyBaby Ever Again Gift: The selection of toys is small, but stellar. Pick up an artful wooden stacking toy or books about art (What is Contemporary Art? being one of them).

OMG Tomorrow Is Father’s Day Gift: The men’s section includes hand-woven belts that double as camera straps and ties, grooming products, and a small collection of shirts.  I’m going with the Fort Standard bottle opener for my guy.

Your Co-Workers Birthday Lunch Is In 30 Minutes and She’s Obsessed with Beyonce Gift (Me): The store carries a selection of hard-to-find magazines like The Gentlewoman.
