This year’s PCHPS home tour is not only a day full of checking out featured historically significant homes in the Park Cities–it’s an entire week of fun. It is the centennial of Highland Park after all. It kicks off next week on Monday, April 1 with a week of activities and fundraisers with the home tour as the grand finale. Since I am your friend, I will break down the events in a very neat and tidy list.
Monday through Sunday: Shop at these Highland Park stores at a discount.
Thursday, April 4: PCHPS Distinguished Speaker Luncheon Series at the Dallas Country Club. Dealey Decherd Herndon, project manager for the Governor’s Mansion Restoration Project, will be speaking about saving and restoring the building after the 2008 fire. She will touch on why restoration matters in the Park Cities. Proceeds from the luncheon fund a scholarship at Highland Park High School for a graduating senior planning to study architecture or preservation. Tickets are $80. Buy them here.
Friday, April 5: Book signing at Vintage Living featuring local interior designer Betty Lou Phillips. She’ll be signing her latest book The Allure of French and Italian Decor. The free event is from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Saturday, April 6: Historic Home Tour featuring four historically significant homes in the Park Cities. This year’s stops include 3601 Crescent Avenue, 3824 Shenandoah, 6325 Preston Parkway, and 4205 Lakeside Drive. Funds raised are allocated for scholarships and to further the mission to promote, protect, and preserve the historic, architectural, cultural, and aesthetic legacy of the Park Cities. Advance tickets are $20 and available at Tom Thumb stores in the Park Cities or here. Buy them at the door for $25 at all home locations.
Sunday, April 7: Centennial open house featuring properties for sale with historic or architectural significance.
