Tracy Martin Taylor is back with more picks and tips for making your abode festive this holiday season, and, given that I am currently in the midst of a raging love affair with toffee and gold-dipped flatware, she is officially speaking my language.

In my last post, I shared some ideas on how to make your home ready for this time of year without forsaking your style. This week is sort of part two (since I always have something else to say). Here goes…

I adore peacocks. Luckily, one of my fave clients is newly obsessed with them. She and I have been strategizing how to ‘sneak’ more peacock inspired color and accessories into her home without her hubby noticing. Feather wreaths (peacock or white) are a glam go-to. Of course, they look fab on the front door, but they’re also make a lovely and unexpected splash on the coat closet door, in the guest bath, or even as a centerpiece. For something more literal, there’s Jonathan Adler’s modern-meets-whimsical peacock menorah. Love it. And having a six year old girlie, I also have my eye on JA’s new mermaid ornament.

For the table, I’m obsessed with Anthropologie’s gold-dipped flatware. Technically these shimmering beauties could work year round, but they also boasts a holiday vibe and demand a table of many to appreciate the glimmer. I also pull out my white deer head candle holders for the holiday tablescape every year. My attachment to “antler décor” is a year round thing, but the stark white pieces are perfect for holiday, as they make me want to bundle up with a big mug of cocoa.

Speaking of cocoa, we always make a scratch batch on Christmas Eve and leave a warm mug out for Santa. My little girl loves to set a spot for the jolly one, and we try to make it extra special. And of course, she loves to leave a carrot or two for Rudolph. At the perfectly casual holiday party at Nest super couple Heather and Scott Alexander’s home, I had to stop myself from visiting and revisiting the sweet goodies laid out for the guests to enjoy. I am certain Santa will enjoy the toffee as much as I did, so this year, he’ll be having that with his hot chocolate. You should too. Trust me on this.

Love your space,
TMT
