Friday Fun with ID Collection’s Jim Williamson

Hello. It’s Friday. I’m about to get in my car and drive to Houston, but before I go, I think we should check in with ID Collection’s Jim Williamson. First, while you are reading this, pretend that Colbie Caillat’s “Brighter Than the Sun” is playing in the background. Apparently, this song is supposed to make everything better—whether it’s every single movie preview on television or your bathroom business. On second thought, don’t. If I hear that song one more time on Coffee House, I may be forced to poke my ears out.

Anyway, I don’t know about you, but I’m glad January is over. For me, January was full of weeks of antibiotics, boxes of tissues, and gallons of soup and tea. It was somewhat like that Lifetime movie with Rob Lowe called Untouchable—not good. (Also not good, asking a room single people over the age of 40, “So how is the dating going?” We will call that awkward moment #2232.) Fortunately, I am almost back to normal. Business also seems to be on its way back to normal. I’ve been slammed with requests from designers to help pull schemes and custom furniture for everything from a cowboy-chic living room (still not quite sure what that means) and a beach house in South Carolina to a fancy big-city pad for a couple dressed head-to-toe in matching designer outfits so new they almost crunched when they walked. Had I been wearing such an outfit, my friends would say, “Oh baby, you so matchy!!”

But now on to our double actor announcement. (Tina Fey is a genius!) The new Designers Guild collections are arriving as I type. Known for her masterful use of color and mix of patterns, Trisha Guild doesn’t disappoint. This is part of her Havana Collection, named for different areas of Old Havana. It’s bold; it’s definitely bright—but most of all, it’s fun. Much like most of our Fridays! It definitely makes we want to recover a certain pair of brown chenille chairs—or better yet, just get new ones.

Anyway, I’m off to LA next week to see more great collections that will be headed our way, so stay tuned. In the meantime, I hope you have a great Friday. Celebrate with the soundtrack of your choice.
