Beauty on the Brain

Dallas Institute

Last month DHome featured 10 Most Beautiful Houses in Dallas, next month DMagazine celebrates the 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas. This weekend the Dallas Institute is hosting a three day seminar called “Longing for Beauty.” Not only do I love, love the Dallas Institute but this title really makes me think, simply because long is such a strong verb—almost meaning something between need and want. The idea that Gail Thomas has written about and will be speaking about is really as fundamental as humans’ need for beauty. If everything we built was not only functional, but beautiful also, how much more pleasant would our city be? My description of this principle is lame at best, try to get a ticket to Friday or Saturday to hear the real deal. “Beauty is truth, truth beauty–that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.”  John Keats
