Friday Fun with Jim Williamson

It’s Friday! Time for the musings of our friend, ID Collection’s Jim Williamson: It sure seems like I am busier these days—not that I wasn’t busy when I was single. But now that I am going on month seven of the LTA, things seem crazier than ever. My trunk is full of dry cleaning that needs to be dropped off, the to-do list remains unfinished, and as for sleep, well, let’s just say I could use more of it.

My staircase is lined with shoes that I kick off as I run upstairs to change for whatever is next on the schedule. (I received said schedule every Monday morning, outlining what, when, and where I have to be after work. It’s kind of sweet if you think about it—or a little OCD. I’ll go with sweet.) Even my rescue cat has started to give me the cold shoulder for lack of attention, which basically means that soon, no upholstered surface shall go unpunished. But like they say, carpe diem, so I’m carp(ing) as fast as I can.

Anyway, on a recent night out, we saw Matt from Most Eligible Dallas and Taylor Armstrong from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. There was so much plastic in the room that I didn’t know whether to find a recycling bin or call the EPA. So yesterday, I read in a London newspaper ( I use “news” loosely here) that the two are now an item. Yeah, right, and I won $14 million in the Nigerian lottery. They are simply waiting for me to reply with all my personal information before I get the big payout.
On to other matters, last night we went to the Fair. It wasn’t crowded, which was excellent, and the weather was just about perfect. Big Tex was in fine form, and I had my requisite Fletcher’s corny dog smothered in mustard, a couple  of beers, and some fried green tomatoes. Grease never tasted so good. It was nice to be able to catch up with some old friends that I have woefully neglected. We saw the sights and rode some rides.
We also strolled through the Homes of Tomorrow, where you can see some groovy fabrics made by our Texas girls (now transplanted to New York City and Athens) Katherine and Susan Hable—or as I call them, the “Hable Girls”—of Hable Construction. Like the names of the fabrics in this image—Beads, Ribbons, Ball & Chain, Trellis, and Poppy—the fabrics are fresh and easy to use and sure to pick up the energy in any room setting. The girls have been doing fabrics and accessories for years now, and they couldn’t be nicer or more fun. The first time I met Kate—who has more energy than a quasar—she came breezing through the door in a Dior dress and sky-high heels, and said, “Hi” with a slight Corsicana drawl. “I’m Katherine, and you look like you could model.” (She lies.) It was love at first sight.
So while, I am frantically working to find time in my schedule to get some miles in on the Katy, I hope you will enjoy your own fun day at the Fair, eat some fried foods, and make some new memories. And don’t forget to stop by Homes of Tomorrow to get some fresh ideas for your home.
