My Favorite Rooms

Today my favorite rooms are in Garland and Mesquite. Why you ask? Because, for Design Duel, Sarah Pickard of Pickard Design Studio and Connie Jackson of Wilson Associates have taken the living areas of two homes and completely transformed them with under $3000 buying solely from the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity stores—that’s paint, flooring, art, furniture and accessories. Both designers are highly regarded true professionals so they usually have the clients that want to shop at the showrooms in the Dallas Design District, so I’m thinking this was pretty challenging. I was blown away by the creativity, re-purposing, and imagination that went into these projects: counter fronts used as a dramatic art piece in one home, and a personalized home plate in the other, two metal planters that were dis-assembled and made into a wall-hung console and an end table. Also, in one home a planter box became a wall unit with the addition of a painted shelf and bolts attached to the front for coat hooks. You get the idea, and just look at how great both rooms look. I’m thinking it’s time for a trip to one of the Habitat stores.
