Next week is an event I always look forward to—the ta-da moment when Sherwin Williams announces the colors for 2012. It’s fascinating to think about people sitting around in little rooms making predictions of what colors will be cool based on the economy, the general psyche of the population, what people are wearing, and what causes we are caring about. But that’s exactly what they do and the big presentation of Colormix will be hosted by the Robert Allen showroom in the Dallas Design Center next Wednesday, Sept 28 from 10—12. Better get there early to find out about the “family friendly” color groupings of reds, blues, greens, and neutrals. The reds are influenced by the Chinese design influence, the blues by the need for lasting economic stability epitomized by the color of denim greens are the reflection of the growing “green” movement. The key here is finding compatible colors that are adjacent in the color wheel—reds and oranges living very happily together.
