Just looking for a little inspiration, I went into Donghia to see what’s new—I would love to see some new products in their Dallas showroom. It’s time, Crans. (Crans Baldwin is president of Donghia, Inc., and an old friend of mine.) But, I did love these very simple but powerful wall pieces by Petta-Thompson, half circles of gold leaf carved out of blocks of ebony finished burl wood. This is when you look at the simple lines of something great and think, “wow, why didn’t I think of that!” These large scale installations (oro is available in individual block sizes of 20, 12 and 7″—I’ve seen one with fifteen) are great complements to the simple sculptural lines of Donhia Furniture.
