The fine exhibitions put on by SMU’s Meadows Museum make frequent appearances in D Home‘s events section, including the current issue, which features the Esteban Vicente show that opened yesterday. (The untitled piece you see here is just one of the 80 works on view in Concrete Improvisations: Collages and Sculpture by Esteban Vicente.) But maybe you’re tired of being a mere spectator in the art world. Maybe you want to be an artiste yourself. Well, the Meadows Museum is one step ahead of you. On Sunday, May 22 from 1:30-3 pm, the museum is offering “Drawing From the Masters,” an informal drawing class based on works in the Meadows’ permanent collection. Artist Ian O’Brien will help students explore a variety of techniques and improve drawing skills. Attendance is limited to 20 and is on a first-come, first-served basis. So grab a sketchpad and a pencil and eat an early lunch because you do not want to be late for the first step in your new career path. Or hobby, whatever. The class is free with museum admission. Call 214-768-4677 for more information.
