John Phifer Marrs is many things to many people: noted interior designer; trusted friend; and one of the best people (ever!) to sit next to at a party. He’s all that, and now he’s more. Specifically, he is a D Home blog contributor. John took a minute away from his busy schedule—not only is his house on the market, he’s working on design projects in Texas and California, stocking his Lovers Lane shop with delightful things, and working on his garden (“My newly planted peony bush just bloomed,” he says)—to talk important matters with me. We talked television, and it turns out John Marrs loves HGTV’s Selling New York. “They have some fab apartments and some pretty scary stuff, too,” John says, laughing. “I don’t want to hear any ‘tacky Dallas’ comments from New Yorkers—I think New York may have its share.” Also of note: “Just like Dallas, New Yorkers are really into staging every property for resale. Heaven forbid you have any collections (like me) or personal effects like family photos,” he says. John promises to dish more on that topic very, very soon. Until then, welcome home at D Home, John!
