The Texas Medical Board has temporarily suspended Dallas psychiatrist Dr. David Livingstone Henderson, because his practice of medicine is a threat to public welfare. He was arrested in April in Dallas County for aggravated assault, and the board documents that he has been charged twice with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
CBS DFW reported that the victims are his wife and a family law attorney named Michael Wysocki, who had worked with Henderson for years when Henderson had served as an expert witness in trials. Wysocki told CBS that Henderson had not been mentally well and that he asked Henderson to see a psychiatrist, but Henderson reacted poorly. He sped his car away into oncoming traffic, swerved toward Wysocki (who was in his vehicle), and pointed a handgun at him. Wysocki told CBS that he was taken into custody near NorthPark Center and was founded with a loaded handgun in his waistband.
Henderson has pleaded not guilty, and his defense attorney Chris Lewis told CBS he was having a mental health episode and was “legally insane” when this incident happened. He says Henderson is now getting the help he needs and is competent to stand trial. Henderson is being held at the Dallas County jail on a $10 million bond.
Henderson is no stranger to media coverage. Over the years, he appeared on numerous local news shows and has been interviewed by D CEO Healthcare, among others. The Medical Board documents list the address for Four Stones Collaborative, a psychiatry practice he founded whose website is no longer functioning. D CEO Healthcare spoke with Henderson in 2019 about an initiative called Psyched30 (whose website is also no longer working) involving a series of mental health videos helping people find purpose and balance. The videos were paired with questions that viewers were meant to answer in a journal.
From our 2019 story: “The videos tell fictional stories meant to help others find out what they want to do in life, especially when they feel lost and in transition, such as finishing school or ending up in a dead-end job. They will be accompanied by 30 launch parties at each of the locations where the movies were shot, which includes 1900 Pacific, Circo Dallas, The Library at the Warwick Hotel, Magnolias Sous le Pont, Bam Beauty Bar, Dallas Glass Art, and Octagon MMA. Henderson is also offering coffee and counseling forums where he will set up at local coffee shops and be available to talk about mental health.”
There is also an Amazon page for Dr. David Livingstone Henderson, who says he is a psychiatrist and author in Dallas for the book he wrote called Finding Purpose Beyond Our Pain. The book’s description says it is “A revolutionary approach to dealing with life’s challenges that guides readers in how to face them and to recognize them as gifts from God.” The page says Henderson was an adjunct Biblical counseling professor at Dallas Theological Seminary. The book is listed on DTS’s media website.
In a 2019 interview with Voyage Dallas, he said he was the Chief Medical Officer of Fort Behavioral Health, which has adult and adolescent residential drug detox programs. He also spoke about another book called MY TEENAGE ZOMBIE: Resurrecting the Undead Adolescent in Your Home, published in 2016, about parenting adolescents. He told Voyage the book features some of his original artwork.
Criminal charges aren’t always enough for the TMB to permanently suspend a license, as earlier this month, aboard reinstated the license of a physician accused of sexually assaulting an elderly family member. In this case, the arrest was enough to suspend the license temporarily . The board found that Henderson “is currently impaired and unable to practice medicine in a safe and competent manner.”
